Consumers Want Waste Disposal Units in New Kitchens

This is a relatively surprising result, as according to the sales and marketing director or InSinkErator, Ashley Munden, food waste disposers were relatively unknown within the UK.

Several changes in the last few years have led to an expansion of the food disposal market: consumers have become more aware of the amount of waste that they are placing for kerbside collection, and home builders are beginning to view the food waste disposer as a key appliance for new homes. This is likely to be in response to the notion that food waste disposers can divert nearly 20% of household waste away from garbage dumps, reducing the amount of volume that is collected.

Joe Ferrara, marketing director for InSinkErator, says "The food waste disposer is a simple and cost effective in-home solution that doesn't require a significant change in habit for the consumer, making it a highly viable solution".

With the food disposal market expanding rapidly, InSinkErator can expect further years of healthy profits as more and more consumers begin to expect sink disposal units to come as standard in their new kitchens.
