Electrolux Wins Sustainable Energy Award

Major appliance provider Electrolux has recently won the venerable 'Sustainable Energy Award' in the category of Corporate commitment

This award is an example of Electrolux's ongoing commitment to the reduction of the amount of energy that its household products consume. Electrolux has been actively seeking ways to increase the efficiency of its products while being able to maintain its price advantage.

In the last decade, Electrolux has introduced a series of programs and products designed to reduce energy consumption. In fact, Electrolux's major kitchen appliances have improved by nearly 40%, significantly impacting their effect on the environment. The President and CEO of Electrolux said, "We believe that incentive programs across Europe to stimulate the replacement of older appliances with new, energy-efficient ones could significantly impact CO2 emissions".

He continued, "We estimate that there are 200 million appliances that are more than 10 years old current in use in European households. Replacing these could cut CO2 emissions some 22 million tonnes per year, corresponding to 6% of the EU's Kyoto Target".

It is not just Electrolux, however, who are making strides to improve the performance of their kitchen appliances. All large electrical retailers are now looking very closely at the performance of their products in order to make them kinder on the environment whilst still being at the cutting edge of design and functionality.
