Eco Kitchen Design

Reducing their impact on the environment is high on the priorities of many high-street shoppers; this is also true of customers looking to update their ageing kitchens.

If you're looking for an eco friendly kitchen design, the following five tips can help you get style without it costing the earth:

  1. Real wood worktops and base units will not only last longer than their chipboard equivalents but are also friendlier to the environment because fewer chemicals are used in their manufacture.
  2. When you are buying kitchen appliances, always opt for the energy efficient model. These may be slightly more expensive but cost savings can be made on electricity bills as well as environmental impact.
  3. Recycle and Reuse! If your old kitchen was not totally defunct, try re-using certain items in your new kitchen. These can act as great talking points and will also prevent a usable item going to waste.
  4. Ensure that you make space for recycling bins within your new kitchen layout. Most kitchen waste (be it cans, plastic or glass) can be easily recycled; in the case of food waste this can be composted.
  5. Make sure you use a CAD trained kitchen designer. A kitchen designer can help you efficiently use the space available to you, ensuring that you don't order unnecessary units and that your space is used wisely (so you can fit in recycling bins!).
