Designing Beautiful Kitchen Worktops

Computer assisted design software can be used by high-end kitchen worktop fitters to create templates for their granite products. Kitchen fitters making the most of the latest CAD software are reported to find the procedure "much less time consuming" and, as a result, can "deliver the customer’s kitchen over a week earlier".

The advantages offered by CAD are numerous, though the most important points are:

1. Simplicity - CAD can redraw a kitchen “on the fly” so that if a cupboard is altered or a sink unit moved, the rest of the kitchen design can be altered to suit very quickly.
2. Scalability - Whereas traditional artist’s renderings offer a simple perspective-based view, CAD can allow the designer or customer the ability to see everything, from every possible angle and dimension.
3. Exact Dimensions - Kitchen fitters are using the computer’s calculating powers to create millimeter perfect templates at the click of a button.

A recent poll by DIY magazine publishers found that African Black Granite is the most popular granite kitchen work surface and considered to be the most luxurious. Custom granite countertops, are now available from most kitchen design showrooms including those in DIY superstores.
